We are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Society this year. Our next event in this anniversary year will be ALCESTER LOCAL HISTORY FESTIVAL. There will be an exhibition of photos and documents revealing the history of Alcester., and three talks.
Maybe you are new to the area, or would just like to learn a little more about the history of the town. If so, this is the event for you!
A CONCISE HISTORY OF ALCESTER will look at the history of the town from Roman times to the present day, all squeezed into one hour!
LIFE IN ROMAN ALCESTER will explain what we know about Roman Alcester, and what life might have been like.
OLD PUBS AND HOSTELRIES AROUND ALCESTER will explore some of the oldest pubs, past and present, in the area. As a vibrant market town through the Middle Ages pubs were an important feature of the town, and there were a lot of them! Indeed, some may have only opened on market days.. You can learn about them in this fascinating and informative talk.
Refreshments will be available before and after the talks.
